Natalia A. Chernyaeva, Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia

Natalia A. Chernyaeva is a Researcher at the Laboratory of Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (the Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia. Her research interests include gender anthropology, anthropology of motherhood and reproduction, visual anthropology, and Soviet ethnography. Her recent publications include: Chernyaeva, N. Imagining the Soviet East: Narratives of Popular Ethnography in a Series of Pamphlets, the Female Worker of the East, 1927–1929 (2022); Chernyaeva, N. Laying the Foundation of “Modern Childhood” in Russia: The Child Protection Movement and the Changing Symbolic Value of Children, 1861–1917 (Oxford, 2018).
